Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter was a book I enjoyed more than I initially thought I would. I picked it up because I loved the artwork, but the unique way Kenard Pak chose to tell the story of seasonal change was refreshing and fun. The book is written like a conversation to the season. Two children say hello to the leaves and the leaves say hello back. The children travel through the book as the season changes, saying hello to the animals, clouds, sun, snow, until they ultimately say goodbye to autumn and hello to winter. The artwork is striking with gorgeous depictions of both natural scenery and cityscapes. The expressive words perfectly complement the scenes on each spread to create a beautiful book that was a pleasure to read.
