Sometimes I like to get a bunch of books that tell the same story, but each with their own unique twist. It’s fun to read them and compare. And I like seeing what kind of fun spin the author can put on a story we already know. This is how I stumbled onto an awesome series of short graphic novels called Far Out Fairy Tales. Written by Stephanie True Peters and illustrated by Alex Lopez, Far Out Fairy Tales: Sleeping Beauty, Magic Master is a fun version of Sleeping Beauty, only this princess doesn’t lie asleep until a prince comes to kiss her. Instead of useless gifts, the Good Fairy gives Aurora the gift if magic. If Aurora can master magic, she can break her own curse and save everyone. And that is exactly what she does. Aurora is a princess that works hard, trains, goes on adventures and doesn’t need a prince to save her. LOVE IT!
