I love finding books that help us celebrate the season. I was looking for winter books when I found The Shortest Day: Celebrating the Winter Solstice written by Wendy Pfeffer and illustrated by Jesse Reisch. This book explores what the Winter Solstice is and how it has been celebrated through time around the world. It was educational, but simple and short enough to keep my kids engaged. I liked the facts and information included in the book, with additional information after the story. The book also includes several activities that you can do with your child if you’re interested in exploring more. So many educational books can be too dry or wordy for young kids, but I thought this book gave a lot of information in a captivating way.
